Tell our Commissioners: "We do NOT need BESS in a fire prone, sensitive environment".
Battery Energy Storage Systems known as BESS have had 105 failures globally. When they catch fire, there is no way to extinguish them. The area has to be evacuated while the unit burns out over a 2 - 3 day period.
If water makes contact with burning LFP ( Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries, the smoke plume will include hydroflouric acid along with the heavy metals which will spoil our soils and water supply.
